WHAT DOES A RIPPER DO ON A EXCAVATOR?
At Glikr Machinery, we manufacture a wide range of excavator attachments that can be a standard part of your construction machinery or a custom one. It all depends on the type of project you are working on and the results you want, as well as which excavator attachments you need to use with your construction machinery. This week's focus is on Rippers, also commonly referred to as Ripper Tooths. all of our excavator attachments (including rippers) are perfect for the type of work the attachment will perform.
What is a Ripper?
A ripper is an attachment that can be fitted to an excavator and then used to break up hard ground and surfaces, as well as rocks and difficult areas that would not initially be broken up with an excavator bucket.
Rippers are a cost effective attachment and are used extensively on construction sites dealing with structural demolition as well as preparing the ground for new framing. Rippers are also used extensively for landscape work as well as breaking up aprons and concrete.
Rippers
What does a ripper do on an excavator?
An excavating machine for loosening layers of frozen soil, rock (usually of medium strength), and artificial surfaces in layers using the tractive force of a prime mover. Rippers are used in construction together with other excavating machines to prepare foundation pits, canals, and trenches; they are also used for stripping work in open-pit mines.
Rippers are equipped with a trailer or mounted tined device with elements for attachment to the prime mover and a hydraulic drive. A distinction is made between three-armed, four-armed, and parallelogram-mounted devices. Rippers may have remote adjustments for the angle, operating width, and depth of ripping.
The working member of the ripper is a tooth with a replaceable tip and a wear-resistant protective covering. Modern rippers usually have a hydraulic drive to raise and lower the teeth, change the ripping angle of the tip of the tooth, control the mechanism that positions the arms, and change the spacing of the teeth. Some rippers have shock absorbers to reduce the transfer of peak dynamic loads to the prime mover and attachments for working with push tractors.
Excavator
Why use Rippers?
Rippers are used for pre-excavation. They are great for ripping up solid ground, making it easier for the excavator bucket to get through the material. They are also great for excavating and removing tree stumps and roots. Simply dig attachments in and around the stump to destroy any roots, and then you can use different excavator attachments to finally remove the stump and then be ready to reuse the ground for any construction job. They are also excellent excavator attachments for demolition sites.
The advantages of using rippers:
It reduces the stress on the excavator bucket if the ground is not broken up.
The amount of use you get from the excavator bucket will increase. Construction machinery and excavator buckets experience minimal wear and tear when using a cracker because you are not putting pressure on them while trying to dig into solid ground or surfaces.
Excavator Rock Ripper
Backhoe and excavator ripper attachments cut quickly through rock, shale, and permafrost. They make digging in hard soil easier and more productive which in turn leads to a reduction in time and increase in profit. The Glikr Machinery Excavator Rock Ripper is the perfect excavator ripper attachment to cut through any hard terrain encountered in your work environment. This backhoe ripper tooth can be pinned directly to the excavator or quick attached.
